An Email Marketing plugin for WordPress or an external tool?
I went through that too. It would be better if I had everything integrated into my WordPress. I was wrong. I do not recommend using an Email Marketing plugin for WordPress, such as Mailster (formerly MyMail) or Mailpoet, because:
- It will overload your WordPress unnecessarily.
- If you make the shipments with your server (your hosting ), they will take hours or days to be sent, in addition to the shipping errors (including spam) you will have as it is not a specialized server.
- If you configure it to use another email marketing tool to send, your functionalities will be limited.
- You will need detailed statistics.
- You will experience domain crashes more often.
- Potential security issues
In short, what seemed like a good idea to have everything in one place is not so good, and it is a bad idea, as you have seen. Ok, we already know we need an email marketing platform that we can access outside of our WordPress.
Free or Paid Email Marketing Tool
And now, do I have to spend money? Am I going to make it profitable? How much to spend?
In most cases, if you still need to generate income with your blog, website, or online store, I recommend starting little by little and using the free or trial plans that offer the best email marketing tools I recommend posting.
If, on the other hand, you are already earning money and want to start using email marketing as a strategy for your business, in my business, it is fundamental and the strategy that works best for me. It may be interesting to directly use a payment option that allows it to grow faster.
However, starting with the free or trial plans may be enough.
And lastly, if you already have a list of subscribers and are considering migrating your users (the emails) to another with a more advanced email marketing tool with CRM, automation, etc. Then you should hire the option that fits the number of emails you have and the number of shipments you make.
When monetizing, you’ll need to know how much money you make from each subscriber to see if it’s worth it. It is usually profitable if you offer products and services and have a defined strategy (or at least point out a small roadmap with what you want to achieve monthly).
You should know that email marketing is key to improving SEO and making money online.
Being able to send a mass mailing by type of use allows you to segment and ensure that each user receives what they need. And this ultimately translates into more income.
How to get leads or subscribers?
The best email marketing tool is only helpful if you get quality leads or subscribers.
To get a person’s email or other data, you need to create a form with plugins such as Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, or Thrive Leads, for example, so that they are integrated with the design of your website.
Here is a list of the best strategies to get leads through email marketing:
· Create a Lead Magnet (Ebook, webinar, course, template, file)
· Newsletter
· Generate content with access only for subscribers
· Offer Consulting / Mentoring
· Form on Facebook
And once these points are defined, it is time to send traffic to these landing pages, posts, or pages through SEO, Facebook Ads, sponsorships, and social networks…
Automations and sales funnels?
Automations or workflows allow us to send different emails depending on dates or actions performed by users. For example, send another warning email to people who have yet to open the last five emails. On the other hand, sales funnels allow us to segment and send sales-focused emails based on users’ actions inside and outside the email.
We can send specific emails to users who have clicked on a link in an email or have visited a page on our website (if we have their email and have previously added a code) to segment users by labels or lists. If someone visits your payment page and does not buy, it is an excellent time to email them in case they need help.
This way, we can create email sequences for each type of user depending on their phase (they just met you, are just starting, already have the knowledge, or want to buy something). Therefore, that your email marketing tool has automation is essential and allows you to create funnels (at least the emails. Not so much the automation) is also quite important, especially when you start to generate income.
This allows you to have everything more under control and put part of the business on « autopilot » (sounds great but is very complicated). The good thing is that we can always switch from one email marketing tool to another, so don’t worry if you use one or the other.
