Keywords and phrases, what they are, and how they serve in your effort to find potential customers.
Keywords to find you on the internet? At first glance, the above heading sounds a bit oxymoronic, “… in your attempt to find you….”
Think of it this way: If someone somewhere is looking for information about something similar to what you are selling, how will they find you?
Your potential customer’s “journey” to reach you starts with internet market research and uses nothing but keywords and phrases.
It sounds simple, and it’s profound, but what’s the biggest challenge is finding the keywords/phrases they use to find products and services like yours.
The aim is to “align” what you are selling with what they are all looking for on the internet. I will let this sentence linger in your mind for a while because this is the biggest issue.
To understand what each one is looking for to find products or services like yours is to be able to get into their mind.
Many professionals and entrepreneurs I ask to tell me what keywords they might use to find them on the internet tell me keywords/phrases that, in most cases, are just “skin.”
What do I mean by ” Construction.” I call ” Construction” those that are either broad in meaning or broad in utility.
To see these cases separately:
Broad-minded are those that do not have a specific goal, i.e., are addressed to a broad category, e.g., Building Construction.
As you will see in the image above, in the first phase, Google makes us suggestions. It helps us in our search. But is this what we are looking for?
At a second glance, if we go to the results that Google gives us in searches, we will see that they vary, with “ Building Construction” predominating.
So the question that arises is: Is it right for companies/institutes to when someone uses the word “ Building Construction “? Also, to ask the same question a little differently. If you offering a course then your keyword would be “Construction Management course”, do you want to go out when someone uses the word ” Construction “? Think about it.
The answer to the above question is NO. Definitely! For two reasons, 1st because you do not want to compete with all those with builder unless you offer course and builder but in this case, you do not want to go ahead for this keyword, and secondly because it will cost you a fortune to be able to come forward for this keyword. (Keep this in the back of your mind because I will mention it below).
Widely used, keywords are those that, as the word itself says, are widely used. They are commonplace keywords/phrases. They are the keywords/phrases that they use mostly on the internet, e.g. “building course”.
Here we come to another case. When a search consists of one or more words, up to three, you name a phrase. And in addition, when a search consists of three or more you call it a sentence. The following are examples:
- Car: keyword – few keywords search nowadays. About 15 years ago, 95% of searches were done with one keyword and therefore many web pages were loaded with such keywords.
- Used cars: key phrase – gives a more specific command to Google to give results but it is still general because it does not say exactly what the person is looking to find on this topic. Does he want to buy a used car? Want to find prices on a used car? What exactly is he looking for?
And we come the last and most accurate way to find something we are looking for is to use a sentence. Whether it is in the form of a question or a simple sentence.
I want to buy a used car. What is the price of a used Opel Corsa 2005? The more specific your question, or the sentence you use, the more specific results you will get.
Why should you be specific with your searches? Because you save time. Because the internet has become an ocean of websites and as a researcher, you need to understand how a search is done but most importantly, on the part of the entrepreneur, since this is what we are discussing here, how to become more specific in the content you offer, whether it is an article, whether it is a video or an image so that those who are interested can find something like what you offer.
I hope this little, above theory, has enlightened you a little bit about how internet search works. I’m sure you have an idea but I’m not sure if you ever thought so.
Google has a single purpose, to serve only relevant results to its visitors so that they can continue to use it.
How to do Keyword Research?
Give a basis now because I will become a little scientific.
Definition of “Keyword Search” is the process of exploring and finding keywords/phrases used by those looking to find services and products on the Internet.
So when you build a site and upload it to the internet, logically you must have optimized it, “loaded” to put it another way, with phrases, sentences, and keywords. But not, as we did in the past, to throw them in unabashedly, but to place them carefully in texts that make sense, first for our readers and then for Google.
So this my dear reader is called SEO, search engine optimization, or search engine optimization of your site.
When Conducting Research Online the Keyword?
Finding keywords/phrases has an impact on what you do to promote your site, or a particular web page (a site is all that web pages contain. A web page refers to a service or product, and a site refers collectively to your business. )
The focus is always on improving the readability and ranking of your site in the searches of the smartest search engine ever invented. To be ahead of your competition. Because in essence, you are always in a speed race.
So, keywords are the compass for all the actions you will take to attract potential customers to your website so that you can sell them your products or services, or ideas. Do not forget that.
How to get started with keyword research?
You start with some ideas or as we say in the language of marketing, “keywords seeds or roots”, these are the phrases that will help you to develop and find more relevant so that you can analyze them for how effective they can be. By “effective” I mean how many are looking for them, what is the interest, and whether they are relatively easy or difficult to get ahead of your competition. We will see this below.
Take for example the phrase “used cars”.
Used cars with low mileage
Used cars in good condition
Used cars firsthand
So the above key phrases could be results that you have discovered that have some interest in your business. Be careful here, however, I am not saying that these phrases are appropriate if you are related to the object, do not hold me responsible if you use them and have no results. I use them as examples to give you an idea of how the system works.
There are several tools available to analyze keywords/phrases, either for a fee or for free.
A completely free is the Google tool.

Okay, so I found the key phrases/sentences, will you tell me now, what I do with them?
Here is all the mastery. You will write texts that will contain these phrases/sentences. When you start writing you should have a main topic, a targeted phrase/sentence which you will put in the tool you use to optimize your text.

At least to “ignite” your flame, to pique your interest, to make your search more, and to put well in your mind the importance of optimizing your site for search engines, in this case, the lovable Google, that we all have a relationship of worship and hate.
