If you carry a laptop in a backpack, then it is better to put it with the screen facing inwards. It would be ideal to throw something soft like a sweater or a t-shirt in the main compartment so that the MacBook is not damaged by a glass bottle, power bank or something else. Thus, if the backpack falls on its back, the matrix will remain intact.
Most backpacks are suitable for laptops.
Of course, it’s best to stand your MacBook upright, but if you prefer carry a laptop in a bag or briefcase, it’s best placed so that the underside of the MacBook (where you put your hands when typing) is at the bottom of the bag. Personally, I never worried about it and I always put my laptop in my hand luggage and passed all the checks and screenings without any problem. After understanding the problem, I realized that this mode of transport is the most preferable.

Of course, it’s best to familiarize yourself with all the rules for carrying a laptop on the airline’s website, but most of them have similar rules:
- As a general rule, the weight of the laptop is included in the total weight of hand luggage (check with your airline).
- You can use your laptop on an airplane, but before you do, turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- You cannot charge your laptop in flight.
- You can use headphones during the flight, but it’s not recommended (you can skip an important announcement).
- Wireless headphones cannot be connected to a laptop during flight.
- The laptop must be placed either under the passenger seat or in the front seat pocket (do not put the laptop on the luggage rack, as it may fall).
- The laptop must be turned off during takeoff and landing, as it interferes with the aircraft’s navigation instruments.
